Nightfall Launches MCP Gateway to Govern AI Agents Before They Act

New capabilities bring inline enforcement, credential brokering, and audit to Cursor, Claude Code, VS Code, Claude Cowork, and command-line data transfer tools

SAN FRANCISCO — September 9, 2026 — Nightfall AI, the unified data security platform for human and AI agent data movement, today announced the early access of MCP Gateway, a governed proxy layer that intercepts and enforces policy on tool calls across every major developer AI tool before they execute.

Six months ago, AI agent security meant a dashboard showing what already happened. MCP Gateway moves that control upstream: every developer AI tool, including Cursor, Claude Code, VS Code, and Claude Cowork, now routes through a single governed layer. Credentials are brokered with per-tenant encryption, so the agent never handles a raw secret. High-risk tool calls, including delete operations and database drops, are pruned before they can run. Every tool call is audited, and Nightfall retains no prompt or response content.

Alongside MCP Gateway, Nightfall is releasing two additional capabilities:

CLI Data Transfer Protection extends the same governance model to the command line, covering curl, scp, wget, rsync, aws s3, and npm.

MCP Server Visibility automatically scores every local and remote MCP server present in a customer's environment, surfacing servers that have gone unreviewed.

Nightfall is also expanding endpoint and detection coverage: unauthorized AirDrop and Bluetooth transfers are now blocked outright, Windows 10 support is fully live, and browser coverage extends to Arc, Brave, Vivaldi, and Comet. PHI inspection now runs at 2x prior speed, and Nightfall has added 15 new country-specific PII detectors across Latin America and Asia-Pacific.

MCP Gateway, CLI Data Transfer Protection, and MCP Server Visibility are available for early access now. More information is available at Nightfall’s Documentation Center:
